Dru Onyx

Hi all GamerGeek back again with another blog about a wrestler who I had the privilege to watch live in Ireland and also have a chance to interview. 

Ladies and gentlemen....... Dru Onyx. 👏👏👏

Dru has been in the Wrestling industry for over 20 years, he always wanted to be a wrestler. He thought wrestling was the closest thing to being a superhero 🦸. The way the guys dressed back in the day, long thights, capes, masks, it was like a comic book to him. He lived his dreams of being a superhero through being a wrestler.

His first WWF event he attended was Raw just before WrestleMania 3 he got to see Ricky the Dragon Streamboat, Randy Savage, Billy Jack Haynes, Kamala.

His favourite WWE match was Ricky Streamboat vs Randy Savage WrestleMania 3. It was exciting for him after seeing them both at the event just before this.

He also said he really enjoyed the following:
HBK Shawn Michaels vs Bret The Hitman Hart 60min Iron Man match
Ultimate Warrior vs Hulk Hogan - WrestleMania 6

He started wrestling in 1999 when he graduated from Northern Champship Wrestling school. He put his wrestling career on hold to go play university football for the Ottawa Gee Gees and graduated. He still had the love for wrestling and returned in 2002.

He joined IWS (Internet Wrestling Syndicate) where he feuded with fellow wrestler The Green Phantom over the IWS title for over half a year. 

One of his fights with the Green Phantom was in his hometown and Dru remembers this fondly as it was the only match his father had seen him wrestle. This match was the same week as his grandfather passing and the same day as his brothers birthday.  It was emotional for him in this match, but to see his dad there with all his friends and family made Dru happy. However he did tell me it was a hardcore match so his father was a little bit traumatised. 

He actually invited his father to another match where he was fighting King Kong Bundy his dad walked out just before his match. 🤨 When he asked his dad why he did not stay his father replied " Listen I don't know anything about wrestling but Hulk Hogan got injured by Bundy and your no Hulk Hogan".😂😂👏👏

In NWA UK Hammerlock (National Wrestling Alliance) in 2004. He wrestled in a one week tour in a tag team match with Dany Williams as his partner. After this he moved to CWA (Championship Wrestling Association). He was the federation's first champion holding the title for 3 months. When the CWA joined a partnership with NWA Quebec the title became the NWA Quebec Heavyweight Championship. In October 2004 he won the NWA British Commonwealth Heavyweight Championship.

He toured again with the NWA UK Hammerlock. He lost the NWA British Commonwealth title in Wales to Fergal Devitt 🤔 - no you are reading correctly Pegasus 2,  Prince Devitt..... Mr Finn Balor 🇮🇪. This match was a hardcore match,  Dru informed me that this match was electric, the pop after the match when Fergal won the match was mind-blowing 🤯. 

When he went back to Wales 3 years later to wrestle for another wrestling company, he was informed that the match he had with Finn was the reason behind why this promotion started. Dru told me it was a proud moment for him knowing he was partially the reason this company starting wrestling. ♥️

He has said if he could he would love to fight Finn Balor one more time. He would also have like to fight Ric Flair, Samoa Joe or FTR - he would need a tag team partner to take on FTR. 

He has been in so many Wrestling company helping promote their business such as North Shore Pro Wrestling, Top of the World Wrestling, Montreal Wrestling Federation. He was a trainer in the WWE performance centre giving his experience and expertise within the industry. 

In 2004 he opened his own professional wrestling school in Quebec called Torture Chamber Pro Wrestling Dojo. 

It was difficult during Covid but thankfully people are slowly going back to the school. He said that "everyone is so happy to be back, working hard, some movie companies have rented the location and has hired some of his  present students for the productions".

He spoke about one of the WWE superstars Kevin Owens, he helped Kevin prepare for his WWE tryout.  He was so happy when Kevin took on John Cena in his Main Roster Debut, he still speaks with Kevin who he is good friends with and also goes to the Dojo to meet the students. 

He really is The Belt Collector.....

Hi all GamerGeek back again with another blog about a WWE wrestler called Test aka Andrew Martin. During the end of the 90's and start of the 00's Andrew was a big star.  He first appeared in the WWF in 1998 he joined The Corporation ( I will be doing a blog on this stable soon). Hi all GamerGeek back again with another blog about a wrestler fighting out of Montreal Canada....... Born and raised in Dublin Ireland Ladies and Gentlemen Adam Ace  Adam Ace aka Mark Flanagan always wanted to be a wrestler. He started wrestling in early 2011 in a small wrestling school in Dublin. It would take him a 2 hour bus ride each way from his house to train for 2 to 3 hours, 4 to 5 times a week. Now that is a man determined to be a wrestler. "Ever since I could walk I wanted to wrestle, I loved the pageantry, the athleticism, the story telling.
